My wife noticed the smell of our dryer (a bit like gas) and noticed that our clothes weren't drying as quickly as they used to be. I told her to call someone. She said - I did - I called you. I removed the front cover from the dryer and everything seemed to work. The flame was very strong, but I didn't have anything like it. I also noticed that the flame kept going on and off. I've watched several diagnostic videos on YouTube. All signs pointed to those valves being the problem and with $9 shipping I figured why not. They arrived two days later. In 15 minutes they were inside and the flames were roaring. I also took the time to vacuum everything and straighten the exhaust hose to reduce kinks/kinks. For less than $10 and about an hour of my time, including watching videos and shopping, I got my dryer fixed. Certainly better than I would pay a handyman. For what it's worth, I have a Maytag 5000 series dryer with steam.
