I bought this lens as a travel lens to use with an Olympus pen camera. My regular camera is bigger than a Nikon but I like to carry an Olympus with me so I have a compact but good quality camera when I'm away from home but mostly not taking photos. I thought this compact 14-42 would be good for a pocket camera. The good news is that this lens is a good compact body. The less good news is that the optical quality does not live up to the longer Olympus 14-42. Focus is soft, although I've been lucky enough to get some good shots where the soft focus was an unexpected plus. I found the electronic zoom mechanism slow and awkward compared to the traditional mechanical zoom of the standard 14-42 and all my other lenses. I ended up selling this lens and going back to its less compact but optically better cousin. I would recommend this lens to anyone who needs a small, always-on camera. But for me the optical compromise and the cumbersome zoom mechanism were not acceptable. However, I'm still a big fan of Olympus cameras in combination with carefully selected Olympus or Sony lenses.
