Didn't work for me on hubs

Wanted to use this to allow my iPhone and iPod to connect to the same input port in my car but it didn't work. In fact, only an iPhone connected to a cable and a cable connected to it will not work. I'm not sure if it's car radio (2019 Rav4) or cable. But it wouldn't work for me.
