Scissors won't cut a full 5" width, so allow for 4 1/2" and I believe the thickness could be greater with a longer handle. The blades are sharp and go right through the handle of the stainless steel spoon. I just need to set up a pedestal in the store. Well made and at a good price! I contacted the seller and asked them to send me a replacement blade and they just sent me a second new knife. The upper blade was undamaged, so the lower blade must not have been properly hardened at the factory. I was not asked to return the 1st pair of scissors. Great service in support of their product!
