Review on Car Radio Stereo 10 Inch Touch Screen For Jeep Wrangler 2011-2014 With Apple CarPlay Andriod Auto by Adam Walsh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This Awesafe Radio is a dream gone bad!

I installed this on a 2012 wrangler jk and at first I was sort of let down because the trim pieces don’t match up to each other and make for gaps and spaces on the dash, other then that being the hardest part of the install it was fairing easy and straight forward. There are a few good detailed instructional videos on YouTube that can be helpful. The things that I’m not satisfied with are that I doesn’t truly work as a stand alone Apple CarPlay compatible device as advertised. The steering wheel controls don’t interface with head unit as advertised. The head unit takes a long time to startup initially and after only in for two weeks after installing the radio intermittently shuts off and then turns itself back on for no apparent reason, and this is a deal breaker in my book and extremely frustrating. Probably I will return this for that reason. It looks great, the idea of it is great for the $$$ and for an upgrade if everything fit and worked as advertised. So I hope my experience helps out with a discussion to buy or not! Oh and there were no instructions or customer support as of yet!Update to my review: I was able to get the steering wheel controls to work finally by going over the wiring setup, I had plugged the wires for the SWC into the wrong port on the head unit and after plugging it into the right port it works flawlessly. As far as the Apple CarPlay goes, I still can’t figure that out! And as far as the Trim Dash pieces not fitting or matching up to dash I contacted Awesafe support for new dash trim so I see what happens there! The unit seems to have stopped cutting in and out after my go through with the wiring harness! Still might return it though even though I’ve worked through some issues

Pros
  • The stereo can be used to make hands-free calls, reducing the risk of distracted driving and helping maintain focus on the road.
Cons
  • The touch screen could accidentally register unintended inputs
