This unit's light is powerful enough to cast 0.1mm black and white calligraphy lines through 140 lbs. Hot-pressed watercolor paper! Do I have to say more? I wouldn't trace anything microscopic on paper that thick, but lines at 8 or 9 per inch are pretty visible. The light is so strong that I usually (i.e. when using standard stationery) turn it down by about half for convenience. I think it would be good to transfer sketches for drawing instead of using carbon paper. And at 32.5 inches, this thing is HUGE. Takes up most of my desk. I bought this size because I didn't want even a little "bulge". between elbow and hand when writing. Could probably have been a size smaller. The surface is hard, paint-repellent and (so far) easy to clean. Good product!
