As others have pointed out, even a light tap on them resets them, rendering them useless as clocks. If you have any, you can try bending the battery contacts a bit to make the connection tighter. However, even the wires from the PCB to the shield are a piece of conductive foam held under pressure (instead of a proper ribbon cable), so don't expect them to be reliable. Also, the instructions are only in Chinese.
