Review on 🚚 Enhanced Truck Tailgate Assist by Dee Zee - DZ43300 by Chad Baio

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Trunk opening assistant Dee Zee 2005 Dodge 2500

Update 09/13/2017: Nut reinstalled in the blind nut and turned the nut another four turns (now the nut is turned 8 turns more than necessary). The mother appears to be properly dressed. I reinstalled the ball joint and shock absorber. The tailgate works fine except the tailgate cable sometimes gets pinched between the tailgate and the side of the truck bed and the upper shock mount rubs against the tailgate when in use. I removed the tailgate cable, secured it in a vise, and bent the top bracket inward so the memory of the cable was facing the truck body. I also bent the lower cable bracket inwards a bit. The bend in the cable holders has prevented the cable from being pinched between the tailgate and the side of the body. I also put some teflon tape (tape with adhesive on one side from McMaster Carr) where the upper shock rubs against the tailgate in use. I like the Dee Zee Tailgate Assist, but Dee Zee needs to fit a thinner fender washer, redesign the top ball mount to be 2mm shorter, and add the extra steps I did in the guide. I have upgraded my rating from one star to three stars. If it's reliable in six months, I'll increase it to four stars.
