It worked great for me straight away. It was quick to assemble (two screws to attach the blade) and otherwise makes a solid impression. I've only used it to cut a small piece of rope and a few other pieces of rope for experimentation, but the result is much better and much easier than "cut, burn with a lighter, smooth the ends". strategy I used. On a cold start, it takes 5-10 seconds from pulling the trigger to melting the rope with a very light pull on the rope. The result is a nice, clean finish with no wear.
