SeaSense Rope Cutter Gun with 4-Foot Power Cord Review

I bought it to cut paracord. It cuts, but about 60% of the time I still have to burn the ends because it doesn't work very well. I even tried waiting until the end was glowing red to make the cut. It seems to handle the larger cable better than the smaller 750 parachute cable which I was planning on using most of the time.

Blade gets hot enough to cut rope. I'm taking off a star because the two screws that attach the hot blade to the pistol grip are junk. Garbage. This part was designed by an idiot. However, it doesn't affect a hot gun in any way, unless gravity interferes with holding the gun upside down.

I am very happy with this tool. I use it to cut lines used on my sailboat. It works great and the burnt ends of the fishing line don't crumble. First I wrap blue masking tape around the area to be cut out. When the blade heats up it only takes a few seconds and I gently move back and forth to cut the line right down the center of the 1 inch wide band. Then I remove the tape and both cut ends are perfect.

I really liked this rope cutter when I first got it. It heats up quickly and cuts through rope and fabric with ease, but barely gets hot after a few uses. I tried to return the product, but I found out that you only have 30 days to return it and that it has been around 50 days since the purchase. Perfect for my needs! I bought this to cut 1 inch nylon webbing and it worked like a charm. I've used it on ceramic tiles which I've placed over a rag which has proved very handy for wiping up bad cleaning supplies when small bits of melted nylon (smelly and probably toxic) got stuck on the bed and started smoking.
