Review on πŸ’» Enhance Your Presentations with Logitech Wireless Presenter R400: The Ultimate Wireless Presentation Remote Clicker and Laser Pointer by Kevin Singh

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Hopefully you don't need it to work with anything other than Powerpoint.

I bought the R400 under the impression that it was a simple presenter that would work in any program that used the left or right arrow keys to move through slides, photos, etc. However, Logitech settled on the PageUp and PageDown buttons as the basis for the forward and back buttons for the R400. This means that all your programs that use the left or right arrow keys will not work with this remote control. I just don't understand why, out of all the keyboard shortcuts Logitech could use, they used the page up/down keys instead of the left/right arrow keys. I wanted it for Powerpoint, yes, but mostly for Adobe Lightroom. I opened a gallery in Lightoom, gave my client a presenter/clicker and he scrolled through the photos at his own speed while we talked about it. My previous unnamed cheap clicker from five years ago worked great for this until it died. Well, in Lightroom, the left/right arrow keys move forward/backward one photo at a time, while PageUp/Down moves forward/backward 12 at a time. I figured there must be some way to set up this keyboard shortcut, some software or setting. from Logitech that I could download to modify it. nope For every support question on their website asking how to change the keys, they responded that you cannot change the key combination and this speaker is only certified to work with Microsoft PowerPoint. Where is it on the product page? It's not even mentioned! This presenter is now of limited use (powerpoint only) and therefore not worth the money I paid for it. If Logitech explained how it works or what it's compatible with, I'd look elsewhere. Instead, I now have to spend more money to buy something else that actually works with more than one program. Seriously, WHY would you choose a rarely used key over an almost universally used key? Even Powerpoint uses arrow keys to move forward/backward. If you use powerpoint ONLY for this presenter I find it works great. If there's any other program you might ever want to use it with, look for something else. They all either include an image detailing what button does what (page up, etc.) or they list it in the description. And the cheap $10 I bought, the DinoFire Wireless Presenter RF 2.4GHz PowerPoint Clicker Presentation Remote (Black) uses PageUp/Down, but it can be switched to using the arrow keys instead. So a $10 pointer can, but a four times more expensive Logitech pointer can't?
