Review on Monroe 171572L Quick Strut Complete Assembly by Derek Kraft

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The second time I used this

. I first bought them for a battered Mazda Protege that just needed to get off the road. I remembered how easy they were to install so I figured they were the right choice for my 150k T&C that had bad bumpers and bushings. Installation was pretty easy. As others have pointed out, the hardest and slowest part of the process was connecting to the stabilizer. Make sure you have a complete assortment of metric wrenches! Aligning the three bolts into the posts was tricky and definitely required a helper. I was able to get close enough to alignment where there was no noticeable change in handling. I have to keep a close eye on tire wear, but for now I think I've done it. I used a scriber at the knuckle and at the height of the beam to check for collapse. Overall, the ride has been greatly improved over the worn, probably original, struts. The suspension is still a little softer than we'd like, but it's still a minivan. I should also note that the main reason for the replacement was to get rid of that annoying rattle I get at low speeds on rough roads. I was sure it was the top bearings in the strut, but it wasn't. The source turned out to be the stabilizer bushings.
