ATTENTION - the screen adhesive is NOT comparable to the original

I bought a brand new 27" iMac 2017 with the intention of replacing the hard drive with an SSD and have researched extensively how easy it is. Follow the instructions Instructions to replace the hard drive with OWC's own website and it took less than an hour and was relatively easy if you had the patience for the task everything went fine the screen worked fine and stayed and I could again working!Yesterday however I came into my studio and the screen fell completely off the computer and the top of the glass of the display was shattered.Screen and computer.I was confused but it happens.Maybe I did something wrong?Unlikely assuming I did followed OWC's instructions myself The real shock came when I searched the internet for a replacement lens for my 2017 i Searched Mac and found the glass and LCD screen are sealed and unserviceable. Because the glue didn't work, I had to buy a brand new LCD for $500. I know professional installation is always recommended, but all steps were followed and correct tools used for the entire installation. There is no reason why an adhesive recommended for a particular computer will not work. This became even more problematic when I looked more closely at the reviews of this device and saw more people having the same problem of bad glue and broken screens.

Pros
  • That's good
Cons
  • Not everything fits
