A close thing. for computers and accessories

I only received the heat pack and glue because I already have the tools. Everything was going fine (posted January 22, 2019) and right now as it is now, January 30, 7am the screen popped up. WOW. I'm glad I was at my computer when it happened. It popped out all of a sudden, good thing I put clear tape on the bottom, it held without pulling on the wires. I don't know why it happened, I cleaned up and did what needed to be done. Now I've put clear tape on the top of the iMac in case it falls out…

*&$^! the tape doesn't hold - the screen fell off

A week after I disassembled and reassembled my iMac (hard drive replaced) the screen just fell off. I followed all the instructions, spent a day peeling all the old glue off the computer and screen and it just fell off. After examining the tape after the fact, it's clear that it doesn't have the same amount of adhesive on both sides - it doesn't peel off the computer, but easily peels off the screen around the entire perimeter. So of course I don't recommend it at all. However, if you need to…

Pros
  • the price is excellent
Cons
  • poorly thought out

In short: Use superglue instead of these strips. Yes, you'll never open it again, but at least it won't fall. I work in IT and do device repairs and before this iMac update I worked with other sticky screen devices like phones. I'm also a bit of a perfectionist and worried about possible problems. All of this means that I did my research and saw that people were having issues with these strips because they might not be following all the instructions. I armed this update with my research and it…

It works, but be careful! Different from pictured.

Where to start. I first ordered this in December and they sent me a 2011 kit with a 2012 tag on it. The blue pick-shaped tool wasn't included, so I used the green one that came with it. It was too thick and my display cracked. The late 2012 iMac LCD was fused to the glass rather than just screwed on, so I had to replace the entire LCD and glass. Fast forward 3 months. I have ordered the set again. It's not YET what is pictured, but according to the OWC website it's correct for a 2012 iMac. It…

ATTENTION - the screen adhesive is NOT comparable to the original

I bought a brand new 27" iMac 2017 with the intention of replacing the hard drive with an SSD and have researched extensively how easy it is. Follow the instructions Instructions to replace the hard drive with OWC's own website and it took less than an hour and was relatively easy if you had the patience for the task everything went fine the screen worked fine and stayed and I could again working!Yesterday however I came into my studio and the screen fell completely off the computer and the top

Pros
  • That's good
Cons
  • Not everything fits

The glue fails and the seller does not stand behind the goods.

I've been a MacSales customer since 1994 when I bought a network card to fit my Powerbook 5300ce. This is the world's first Mac notebook with an active matrix color display. During that time, I bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment from them. I just bought Thunderbolt 2 and 3 docking stations from them this year. (both are getting REALLY HOT) and lately I've been a bit worried about the quality of some things but overall I've been happy. I had a hard drive that was giving me…

Works well for me Suitable for computers and accessories

I bought it almost a year and a half ago because I was afraid to install. I finally did it about a month ago and am happy with the results. I have a late 2013 27" iMac with an i5 processor that ran like a dog at 5400 rpm due to the poor performance of a 1TB Seagate hard drive (I understand Apple thin is expensive - heat) . I used the OWC kit to replace it with a 2TB 3.5" Seagate SATA 6Gb/s Desktop SSD (ST2000DX001) (Legacy). While not as fast as a real SSD, it's a cheaper solution (they're…

DANGER - VIEW THE UPDATE - DANGER - Do you want to break your iMac?

DANGER - READ BEFORE PURCHASINGUpgrade - Star Rating Downgraded from 5 to 1 Star VIEW PHOTOS This is what my iMac screen looks like just over 48 hours after using the OWC kits. I have used 2 of these thermal kits from my iMac and my wife's iMac. I upgraded both to internal SSDs. My wife's iMac worked without any problems. Mine also needed a fan so I bought a fan from ifixit and had to wait for it to be delivered to me so my upgrade was delayed until I got the part. So on Thursday evening…
