Review on ๐Ÿ–ง Gigabyte GC-WB300D Wi-Fi Expansion Card Motherboard with Exclusive Bluetooth 4.0 - Enhanced Data Rates of 1Mbps/2Mbps/3Mbps by Anthony Arcos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very happy with it although I don't see any dual band options.

I don't see anything in the adapter settings for the 5GHz channel even though it supports MIMO. seems to work at advertised speeds. Blows my Rosewill adapter out of the water, throughput and range! It's a dual band adapter so to be honest I just don't know. Many people using Windows 7 seem to have some problems with the card. I'm currently using version 8. I skipped the installation CD and downloaded the latest drivers from the Gigabytes website. did it with the card and only rebooted once, boom. ingenious. as far as i can see for the usb interface. honestly not sure. There are no chips on the board itself, only on the card (which is removable, mini PCIe) so I'm pretty sure it has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. I still plugged in the USB cable just because I was in a hurry to get back. my computer (I'll talk about that later). Gigabyte might want to explain what exactly the USB interface does, because since this board is a mini PCIe card on an adapter board, it shouldn't be a problem to completely shut down the board with a lot of effort and data throughput . The cards are basically a combo WiFi and Bluetooth card that you simply plug into any laptop with a mini PCIe slot on the board. However, if something goes wrong with the card, you can simply replace it with another one and it should work just fine. Later I will experiment with a great wireless card and update it.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Generally normal but...
