Review on πŸ“Ά NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi to Ethernet Adapter by Eduardo Long

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Worked great for 7 months and then.

After 7 months, WNCE2001 completely disconnected from my router. I've been trying to fix the error for about an hour. No luck, the WiFi light didn't come on or connect no matter what I tried. No big deal, figured I'd call Netgear support and get an RMA. That's when the real problems started. Netgear's warranty policy is the worst I've ever dealt with. Their wireless products come with a 1-year warranty, but you'll have to pay for it to diagnose faulty hardware if it's been more than 90 days since purchase. So how are you supposed to get permission to return a defective product under warranty when you have to pay to speak to someone to confirm the product is dead? Only an idiot would agree to that. I understand they don't want to offer network support long after the sale, but charging customers for diagnosing FAULT/DEFECTIVE hardware during the warranty period is almost extortionate. I love their products, but between the terrible offshore support from someone who knows less than me and charging the customer to replace a warranty item, I don't think I would buy any other Netgear product. What idiot came up with this policy? I'm fairly knowledgeable about wireless networks and computers. I try everything before calling support because I know it's going to be as fun as a colonoscopy. I received an RMA and didn't pay because I didn't give up. I asked a few times and they didn't tell me what the fee would be if I was willing to pay. I suppose it would be more than the cost of the wireless ethernet adapter in the first place. In the future I will look for another brand.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
