It's MUCH stronger and stronger than it looks on the screen. Its size and overall design make it a quality device without being too bulky or heavy to get in the way. This is just right for the intended purpose of holding weak percussion assisted lifters. I use mine to hold the flimsy hood lifters on my 2003 Dodge Ram which has a very heavy oversized hood. It uses two very small shock lifters to "barely" hold the hood up at its highest point. If there is a breeze or a slope, the hood will not hold up without a support collar. The cost of this simple clamp is much less than a new shock absorber. I bought one for the back window of my son's jeep a few years ago and it was outrageously expensive. I forgot the actual cost but it was way more than we were willing to pay. Instead, he used a long stick for many years. Too bad we didn't stumble across one of these clamps back then.
