Review on ๐ŸŒ Travel Magnetic Games by Yellow Mountain Imports by Glenn Cho

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You can get two different sets of chess pieces, but a good set no matter what.

I have now ordered two of these chess sets, I have liked both. The first set was used a lot, but then I left it in the car for a week, right under the back window in the summer, and the box melted so much that it became unusable. Others have mentioned getting broken/chipped boards. I have now received two boards, no problem. It's the perfect size for flying in a plane, car, or playing in bed. I love that the pieces are magnetic and small enough for travel but big enough to easily pick up and place neatly. The main part of my review will be dedicated to chess pieces. Because I received a different set of chess pieces on my second order and I think I can provide a lot of information as to why some people seem very happy with their pieces and others not so happy (checkers and backgammon seem to be exactly the same for both Sentences). Set one (the one I prefer): The design doesn't match what is written on the box. The tower in particular is blocky, not castle-like. There is no felt on the bottom. Since there is no felt, the magnets are much stronger. Also, due to the lack of felt, they make a click when you put them on. (Sound doesn't bother me at all). Set Two: The design was much more detailed/defined than I was expecting. The felt on the bottom is unusable. It's not a wooden board, there's really nothing to protect. It only weakens the magnet. I have included photos showing the warped board. Because it melted so much, the panels on the side that faced the window/sun came loose. The boards appear to have two long strips of adhesive that attach them to the board. I didn't have a single problem with the board until it melted. I have also included photos showing two sets of chess pieces. The photo with objects on the table shows the diversity of the design. The back row with a block boat is a set without felt and stronger magnets. There is also a photo of them on the board when turned sideways. The top row are the feltless ones from the first set I received. All parts remain on the circuit board, no problem. Details with felt on the bottom are on the bottom row. You'll notice that the queen is missing because it's the heaviest piece and it slides off the board when I turn it sideways. The jumper also slides a little, but not completely. I like both sets and even the felt ones have enough magnets, better than many other sets. But if I had the choice (which makes me very happy), I would definitely prefer the one without felt and with stronger magnets. Maybe since I have the original set I'll try removing the felt from the second set and see how the magnets behave. But other than that, I'd be very happy with either set. And I had no trouble holding the magnets securely in the parts. This set is just ridiculously cheap and it's amazing. I can't be wrong
