These things really work. I had some fruit that went bad in the fridge and I couldn't get rid of the smell. I put one of these blocks in the fridge and the other in the freezer and the smell was gone by the next morning. When first opened they have a slight smell of chlorine, but this dissipates and does not contaminate the fridge. They have no residual odor in the fridge. I recommend these devices instead of baking soda.
