Is it REALLY fire glass?

After using their clear fire glass three times it became black/burnt when regular fire glass is not supposed to burn.
we are using propane which it says it works fine with.

Pros

Very pretty. They look nice reflecting the fire.

Cons

The fire glass may prove to be a hazard, as it can become extremely hot during use, especially in windy conditions
