Review on Ecoline Brush Pen Blue Violet 548 (11505480) by Lori Aguirre

Highly pigmented marker, color not as stated on label

I'm a big fan of Rembrandt watercolors so I was glad to learn about the watercolor markers from the same company. I ordered a deep ultramarine marker and the label on the barrel not only says it is deep ultramarine but also the color of the ultramarine on the label. The color of the marker is more like a mixture of Prussian blue and Ptalo blue. This is a very nice color but not what it should be. I have used different brands of watercolor markers with brushes including Winsor & Newton, Ohuhu and a few other brands. Thing is, this Ecoline Brush Pen is highly pigmented – I mean STRONG. It's so intense, and when you put some water on it, there's a lot of color. I'm sure I'm not the best when it comes to watercolor markers but I haven't had any issues with pigment or ink control with other brands of markers but I find this marker too good. Plus or minus depends on you and your style; This is not a move for me and I will not be buying from this line again. To sum up, a great color is not the color shown on the body, a very juicy highlighter with very heavy pigmentation. Nice brush tip.

Pros
  • Art Supplies, Painting & Crafts
Cons
  • Doubtful
