Review on Enhanced E-Coated Pitman Arm by Proforged (Model 103-10041) by Jason Taylor

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Doesn't fit, although Revain claims it does

This bipod arm does not fit properly or fully onto the OE sector steering shaft, although Revain's compatibility chart shows it will fit an Oldsmobile 1970 Cutlass Supreme. The segment shaft diameter on this joint linkage is approximately 1/8 inch smaller than the segment shaft diameter on the Original Equipment steering gear segment shaft. (See Fig.) The lock washer and nut cannot be fully tightened to the point where the original bipod arm would seat on the original sector shaft, causing the bipod arm to drop lower onto the steering box and causing center link bumps. resulting in incorrect geometry of all front drag links. I'm in the process of remodeling and bought it a few months ago. Now that I've tried installing it, it's too late to return it. Big waste of time and money relying on the wrong description.

Pros
  • WHAT IS PITMAN ARM? The bipod arm is part of your vehicle's steering system - it connects the steering gear to the center link, allowing the wheels to turn. Pitman levers are ball joints, just like your hip, and need to be replaced when they wear out. A worn bipod arm results in poor handling and makes it difficult or impossible to achieve camber, leading to rapid tire wear. Replacing a worn bipod arm results in a noticeable improvement in steering feel, handling and safety.
Cons
  • Minor repairability
