Update from 05/19/2021: still great! I haven't touched the sensor since I originally placed it on my stair railing, the batteries and smart home functions are just as good as the day it was installed. 10/08/2020 I bought it for the motion sensor for iOS HomeKit - the idea that when I walk up the stairs, the light in my bedroom will come on automatically. I scoured Amazon for the cheapest HomeKit-compatible motion sensor and googled what other people were using before pulling the trigger. So far so good, came with a rechargeable battery so I didn't have to make an extra trip, very easy to hook it up to a HomeKit system. Time will tell how long the batteries last and how it holds up overall. I will provide an update after some time.
