For running on a 1965 Mustang it is a "FEMALE OPTIONAL” as it is easy to set up since You don't need a laptop. The fuel pump works great outside of the tank and most importantly without a return line. I had an issue to work on and I can save you some trouble, don't install the ECU in the engine bay, it just won't withstand "buzzer", under the hood, put it in the cockpit and You will never have any problems. If the ECM gets hot, the brain won't fire. I figured it out as I had 2 devices, I walked around, warmed up, then turned off, tried to restart and the handheld didn't show anything. Connected to another ECM and it lit up. If you have a problem installing, go to the MSD forums on their website under SUPPORT and look it up for yourself, because trained monkeys are smarter than MSD tech support.
