I have worked with cement board on many projects. Cutting always involved using special blades if I was using a saw, or using a cut and rip method on thinner materials. Clouds of dust are formed when sawing products from cement boards. This leads to safety (breathing) and cleaning problems. TurboShear works very well. I use a Makita 18 volt drill to power this attachment. It cuts through 1/4 inch thick cement board like butter and slices through cement board siding with ease. It takes a little practice, but after a short learning curve you should be able to cut precise lines. I've also used this to cut out circles with reasonable accuracy. It cuts in a plunge action and occupies about 1/4 inch of the kerf. Along the drawn line you can guide it with a slot in which two crossing blades work. This tool has saved me a lot of time and makes working with cement board a lot easier. I didn't cut 1/2 of the cement board with it so I don't know how well it will work with this material.
