Review on Tailgate Liftgate Supports 2001 2008 Chrysler by Tom Lawson

Bought to replace 2006 PT Cruiser sunroof pillars

To install these pillars and in my case (don't know about other cars) you will need a T-40 size Torx bit to remove the old ones. I think if you're strong enough you can use a screwdriver for this job, but a small ratchet which I used will make the job easier. If you're buying these for a PT you'll need some sort of support to hold the sunroof while you remove the old ones and install the new ones. I used a 7' x 2' x 1' piece of wood wedged between the floor and the metal around the edge of the hatch. The racks' packaging has the awful "Made in China" writing on it, which is missing from the Revain product description. A new prop snapped into place without much difficulty, while the other resisted screwing in at one end, and the slot on the pivot screw was chewed away and the screw was slightly bent, making it impossible to screw it all the way in. Luckily I had enough room to unscrew the destroyed hinge screw and more importantly I found that the hinge screw assemblies on both the old and new uprights came loose without the use of a tool. The old nodes were still working, so I screwed them to the new rack and everything ran smoothly after that. If you can do it, I highly recommend it. The new struts lift and hold the hatch on the PT well—for now. This is the only reason why this article gets 2 stars. Otherwise, brittle metal in the pivot screws (they're almost 1/4" in diameter; I'm 82+ and not as strong as I used to be, but was able to scrape most of the torx slot in one of them and I bend everything by hand ) and the subsequent need to use old pivot bolt assemblies would result in 1 star.
