The GUI of this router is designed to work with WINDOWS systems. The configuration save/reload feature requires you to have a C drive: I'm using Linux. Linux does not use drive letters. I have a GS1900-24E which for the $98 spent is AMAZING. The 24E has an EXCELLENT web interface that offers a lot of information and settings. It doesn't matter what operating system you have. On the other hand, the web interface of the GS1200-8 is aimed at the average WINDOWS home user. If you try to backup or restore a configuration, it is assumed that you have the C: drive. Great except I'm using LINUX. It will NEVER be able to copy/download configurations in a Linux environment. FUNCTIONAL, for a home environment it will work fine but it doesn't have the information/settings that the 24E has. It's a 5 in terms of switch functionality. I LOVE ZyXEL. I bought 2 of the 8 port units and am returning them for the reasons I have given. To be honest, (I'm) NOT a regular home user. There are over 48 devices on my network! I won't bore you with the details, suffice it to say that this is a complex topography. That being said I have ONLY bought 2 other GS1900-24E switches. Only need about 8 ports on each, but (I'm) willing to pay for the extra functionality. ZyXEL - GREAT. THIS switch is EXCELLENT for the average home user and costs $29 which is almost unbeatable for quality and warranty.
