I installed this air intake on my 2008 4Runner (4.7L) in early 2011. Installation only took about 2 hours (with the help of a friend). The noise is definitely noticeable, as is the power gain. What surprised me was the increase in gas mileage. I've read some reviews where people said it's unlikely or impossible. Well, my 4Runner went from 19-20mpg (at 65mph) to 21-23mpg. Also, we recently towed a Toyota Corolla through winter weather and mountains from California to North Dakota. We averaged almost 18 (17.6) mpg for the entire trip with a 3,000-pound car behind us. Don't let the intake noise put you off this purchase. It growls a lot when you press the accelerator hard, but it's barely noticeable at motorway junction speeds. A tip: When installing this air intake, use Loctite or another threadlocker to secure and clamp all the screws. . Before I reinstalled some parts with Loctite, I had to constantly change the position of the filter in the engine compartment. After about 200 miles of normal driving, the filter (and intake hose) wobbled a few millimeters and vibrated against the air filter screen. I don't like rattling or weird noises coming from my truck so I did something to fix it. The solution was Loctite. The increase in power, harsh sound and increased gas mileage make it a great buy for your engine. Take it!
