I have been a circuit swimmer for over 40 years. I've always used the most common cap (known name). I decided to try this cap (so many good reviews) and never thought I would be SO excited about my new cap! I have used it twice with great pleasure. I have shoulder length hair that holds up perfectly, although I'm sure it will hold more hair than me. I think it would be great for short hair too. It might have more to do with the size/shape of your head - I don't know. All I know is that for the first time I don't have to put on a hat to cover my ears while swimming. It stays in place perfectly and is so comfortable. I wet my hair and then apply conditioner before putting on a swim cap (to protect it from chlorine). I think it can actually fit snug enough to keep my hair mostly dry if I so desire. I use silicone putty in my ears - and it helped the putty stay in place during my 40 minute swim today. The thickness is better than the last famous brand cap I bought (they are thinner). I spoke to a swimmer friend of mine about my new hat and after the swim she tried it on. she loved it! (She also used a beanie from the same famous brand). I never intended to review anything right away, but I'm thrilled that this cap has changed my swimming life.
