Marked as an alarm clock. For me, this means that you should be able to tell the time in the dark. You can, as long as you have a closet light on. The backlight of the display is linked to the backlight of the case. When the cabinet lights are off, the LED indicator is off. I like it when my room is dark when I sleep. This product is more of a gadget for people who like to watch the rotation of colored lights instead of using it as an alarm clock. In addition, the dimmer has 4 settings: high, medium and low. The light output from high to medium is very low, so you only have "off", "high" and "low" to adjust the light. I would return this watch but the watch was packaged so well that I ripped it out of the box. I do not recommend this product for the bedroom or where you want to sleep in the dark.
