I just bolted it on and the bike flipped over no matter what position it was in inches inches. This is because the arm didn't fly far enough off the bike (he held it too vertically). But I grabbed the bottom and pulled it up, flexing the strut and forcing my arm further away from the bike. It worked. The metal is pretty cheap and bends easily, but that's a plus. Also, when you tighten it, you eventually start twisting the entire mount, so you have to tighten with one hand and hold the mount with the other to hold it tight enough so that the mount doesn't move. does not slip during operation. Overall this is a mediocre product and I'm a bit disappointed. I just put it on and hope it holds up and works well over time, but I wouldn't be surprised if it fails.
