A great help when dealing with antique clocks. You can see every scratch on the pivot, every bent or worn gear cog, and bent or worn drive cables. It also came in handy when trying to drill through a mandrel to install a new tenon, but the #65 wire bit wouldn't drill. Even tried drilling brass with the same result. I placed the drill under the endoscope and found that the wire drill was not properly sharpened (the cutting edges were below the leading edge, see picture). This scale allowed the dealer to send pictures of the problem with the drill.
