I am very glad we bought this device. Drilling into new cabinets is a pain, but we tested it on a piece of wood and lined everything up. My brother-in-law gave us one of those plastic tools with pre-set holes and spacing, but it wasn't exactly centered in our cabinets, and some of our handles were unmarked. It was also only for boxes. The adjustable nature made it so that we could perfectly center both cabinet doors and drawers of any size. The tool is not 100% necessary, but I found it more convenient to use than to create my own template.
