I usually prefer to buy genuine OE quality parts only when components fail in my cars. However, an OEM Denso starter costs about $400 - not a price I want to pay. After the base fee and taxes/shipping there is still over $200 so I felt like taking a chance by buying the starter at the lowest price I could find online for my truck. But to my great surprise this little guy works great, I've had it on my diesel day driver for 6 months now, no problem. The RPMs are much higher than the previous starter (I'm not sure if my previous starter was weak for a few years before it failed completely) but it spins the flywheel very quickly and the trucks start very quickly now. I'd say I've driven the truck about 6,000 miles since installing it. The installation was tricky, the bottom two screws were easy to reach. To get the top bolt I connected all my 3/8" extensions into a 4 foot giant extension and fed it through all the wiring above the steering shaft and then used a long pry bar to pry open the bolt. The rating helps others who doubt this starter.
