The starter looks great! The crate appears to have been the stuff behind every vehicle Revane has. Each side of the box is damaged. The launcher is probably great, but he doesn't want to install knowing the launcher has been physically abused. It would be great if Revain could be a little less cheap and invest in decent padding and heavier boxes to protect such a heavy item.

I've changed dozens of starters in my life, usually because the old one got stuck and stopped working. I always expected that the only difference between the old starter and the new one was that the new one worked. In this case, the new starter appears to spin 50% faster (probably an exaggeration, but it seems so). My 2002 Cummins diesel engine starts immediately and starts quickly. Love it!

Truck 98 Cummins 4 WD. The front differential is right under the starter, so jacking up the frame gave me a lot more clearance to the bottom bolts. I'm glad I read the reviews beforehand so I knew the screw sizes. Had to use a #10-12 socket on the bottom bolts and a #10-12 socket with an 8" extension and ratchet on the top bolt. Pulled the starter for a while. It got to the point where I had to step on the pedal to get it to fire. Decided it was time to replace. If it was an original Denso unit I wanted to rebuild it but it was an aftermarket unit already owned by the previous owner so I decided to try a different one and see how it works. I usually prefer to buy genuine OE quality parts only when components fail in my cars. However, an OEM Denso starter costs about $400 - not a price I want to pay. After the base fee and taxes/shipping there is still over $200 so I felt like taking a chance by buying the starter at the lowest price I could find online for my truck.
