Review on 🌡️ Fluke 62 Max Infrared Thermometer (Non-contact) - Temperature Range from -22°F to +932°F by Trey Harvey

Very accurate and consistent

I have purchased two 62 Max Plus models. First I wanted to test their accuracy. In a controlled environment, using a calibrated precision reference thermometer, I found that the readings from both IR thermometers were very close. Both measured 1.2 degrees Fahrenheit above the reference temperature. I ran these tests at a room temperature of 75 degrees, with the target temperature also being 75 degrees. Each thermometer tripped for 5 seconds before readings were taken. I protected my body from thermometers. I measured every day 2 times a day for 5 consecutive days. 1.2 degrees above the reference temperature of 75 degrees, the results were always the same. It meets the specification of +- 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Impressive for a device in this price range. What struck me the most was the fact that both were calibrated and worked the same way. They were very solid - their testimony didn't waver. Then I went for a walk with them and simultaneously measured the temperatures of different surfaces with different temperature ranges. Both thermometers always matched, reading exactly the same to within tenths of a degree (note that they're increasing by 0.2, not 0.1). The fact that I can photograph the same place over and over again is also impressive. and get exactly the same reading. Most other IR thermometers are not as stable as this one. It is important that the gauge is stable and consistent, especially when comparing surfaces differentially. I've used Raytek and a few other brands for years, but Flukes has outperformed every other brand I've tried. It was an interesting side project that tested their performance. I hope others find this information useful.
