Borosilicate is just what you need. Even better than Pyrex for brewing fresh iced tea as the ultra-thin glass is tempered to withstand sudden intense heat. Don't worry about boiling your tea bags, and don't worry about lead glaze on stoneware. The lid of this pitcher is designed to fit under an ice tea maker like Mr Coffee. So notice that the lid has two holes, one for pouring and one in the middle with a lip to press on the bottom. Filter basket in the car. So there is no airtight seal, but that's not really necessary for most applications. Holds 64 ounces, which is about 5 full-size iced tea mugs. If you live in the south like me, it's only 3 or 4 really big jars, but it's enough for starters! :)
