This is a cute starter kit for those who want to dip their toes in cross stitch and aren't sure if they'll enjoy the hobby enough to put more money into it. I have a ton of DMC floss on the go and have compared what I received to the flowers in this box. The 3371 is the only one I have and the attached picture shows the DMC 3371 and the Peirich 3371 (included) side by side so you can see the color difference between the two for yourself. DMC always seems to be richer and more intense in color compared to Peirich. But I don't think the thread that comes with this kit would be bad for small hands-on projects. As for the rest of the consumables: the needles are not separate, so you have to do it yourself. And the scissor cap was so tight it cracked when I had to rip it off. The storage dividers are too big to actually use, which is a bummer for those who like to keep things neat and tidy. But for the price I'd say it's definitely worth it.
