I did a bunch of research and pricing on these bench sanders. I needed a cheap and reliable unit that I could use for hogging out wood and potentially aluminum. The piece is cheap, but in the right areas, and well crafted in the right ones too. I wanted this one specifically because it was a direct drive unit. No belts or secondary step mechanics in operation. I haven't even used it yet and I'm very satisfied with it. Testing soon!My only complaint is that the sanding table is hollow. That means clamping to it won't be easy.Other than that, it was easy to get ready for my first use and the smoothness of the mechanism means I could track the belt sander without ever turning it on!The flared base means I can clamp it for now until I make a more permanent table for it later. This will beat using an upside down belt sander for sure!
