I have used Derwent pens for many years and prefer these pens as they are softer and have a much more intense color than these pens; Tombow pens are heavier in the hand and the marks they leave are much more difficult to erase. These pencils are more like finishing pencils, used to "erase" a graphite drawing. These pencils are more difficult to mix with Derwent pencils or regular #2 (HB) pencils. These are great pens, but the cedar wood in my book offers no benefit other than creating a very sharp line, even if you're not drawing a line, just shading. Bottlenecks with more control as it's enclosed in an eraser holder; However, the eraser does not completely erase the marks from these pens. A kneaded eraser is even better. My advice: don't press too hard on the paper or you'll leave a pencil mark that can't be completely erased. This is a great kit for beginners but not for serious graphite artists.
