I rinsed this out before putting it in the tank. As soon as he touched the water in the aquarium, a hundred little green "blades of grass" came loose in my brand new aquarium. My betta started swimming thinking it was good. Luckily he was smart enough not to eat it or I would have had a dead fish. I immediately pulled it out and gave it a good rub in the sink to try and get the dangling ones off. But as soon as I put him in the pool, he did it again. I decided to leave it there, let the water settle and vacuum to get any loose ones out. Water suction took about 25-30 minutes. I'm really annoyed but now that it's done my betta loves it. Again and again he swam in through one entrance and out through the other. He is so happy in his new home but it has been really hard and I hope they don't fall off when I change his water in the future.
