Review on πŸ” Frankford Arsenal Polishing Separator for Reloading by Scott Ramu

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's great, but it needs a little more work.

This thing works great. It cleans outer, inner and primer pockets very well. Like anything in life, it usually takes a little more effort to get the best results. I had the brass cleaned for a friend of mine and he was amazed at how polished and new it looked. But after observing the process I went through after the fall, he concluded that he would never do "all of that" just for cleaner sheet metal. So if you're reading these reviews on Revain, whether you're your first massager or switching from a dry massager, you should be right about what type of reloader you are. If you compete or train several times a week and shoot thousands of rounds each month, you probably don't need to spend MORE time reloading than you already do. This method will add more time. If you're starting over for a hobby rather than saving money, then you probably don't mind devoting a little more time to a more enjoyable outcome. However, you should know in advance that the separation of stainless steel media from brass takes a little more time than with dry media. To speed this up, a media transfer magnet will help as well as a CLOSED media separator. Having it all in the water while you stir it really helps the stainless steel medium find its way out of the brass and onto the bottom of the bucket. The CLOSED (important) divider keeps the pins from slipping out when turning the crank and saves you having to hold a 25-30 lb keg over the sink and shake it until your spine twists. Drying takes longer. I usually wear them on a large towel, then grab the corners and pick up the towel, which has the brass hanging from it like a hammock. I move like I'm buffing a bowling ball for about 30 seconds. Then I put everything on the table outside and let it dry completely in the sun. Additionally, you must examine the towel for additional media and look at each case before attempting to push primer into it. Steel pins can sometimes get stuck in the burr hole. I don't want this to sound like I'm complaining, I really want anyone spending money on this jar to understand that it requires more work. I personally LOVE the results I get. But if you agree with my friend, you might consider buying a pair of Berry's Model 400 glasses. This was the second option on my list and I think it's worth checking out. And to be honest, if I had a house instead of an apartment, I would probably go down this route. A few more things to know before you buy. Decapitation is now a separate step before Acrobatics. Otherwise your primer pockets will not be cleared, defeating the purpose. A stainless medium is typically $45-$50 for Β£5. This kit includes a 5 lb carry case. Media should last you a lifetime as long as you don't lose half of it down the sewer, in the yard, or some other clever place. Also, I would refrain from using the sample of the special cleaning solution that was provided to you. I use a mix of Dawn and Lemishine soap. The soap will help clean the media and prevent dirt from sticking to the cases and media while you drain the dirty water from the top. Lemishine helps with cleaning, but most importantly helps the brass dry quickly and without stains. Do not put them in the drum until it is almost full of water. Otherwise you will end up with a TON of foam. And the last thing to know is that it's still pretty noisy. I bought this because I thought it would be a great way not to bother my neighbors with a clothes dryer. Actually not much quieter, if at all. The flat sides of the glass sound like unnecessary rattling to my downstairs neighbor unless I put it on a shelf in my patio closet. never mind The engine is powerful but noisy. Also in my particular scenario this is solved by keeping it outside in a patio cabinet with the door closed. I think the Berry Model 400 Massager is probably quieter. I hope at least some of this information is helpful and I will try to answer any questions left in the comments. UPDATE: It's been almost a year since I bought this massager. I've run thousands of cases through him and he's still going strong. I still like the results I'm getting and still stand by my original statement that a little more work is needed after the fall. I just thought it was good to know that after a year of continuous use it still works great.
