Works almost as well as regular filament. Battery died after 3 months but customer service was great

ORIGINAL REVIEW (five stars) I'm new to using water floss but traditional dental floss (threads) has become more of a problem for me so I wanted to try it . It turns out that this works just as well as a conventional (thread) thread. All of my initial internet searches turned up "studies" that looked more like ads for irrigation equipment, but I eventually found several NIH articles showing that they actually work better than thread (search the phrase: NIH). So I got this device myself and was surprised to find firsthand that it worked just as well and maybe even better than traditional flossing - my mouth was cleaner than usual after flossing and when I continued flossing (for review he would get everything that had the threads of water), everything was clear. BENEFITS * Works better than traditional floss - leaves your teeth cleaner * Has different strength settings so you can adjust * Comes with multiple tips. Most models with brushes say they need to be replaced after 3-6 months, but the one that's just a clear plastic tube seems to last longer* The battery charger is magnetic - you place the unit on the counter, plug it in a socket . charger and then use a magnet to attach the charger to the front of the device (I've tried putting it the wrong way around or too high/low and it just aligns right so it's very easy) CONS* It's quite large - maybe 10 inches tall and 4 inches at the base (with the floss thread being tiny), although thankfully it's easy to hold and not heavy. ). nothing wrong but takes a while to get used to not turning it on outside of your mouth (which as you might expect just sprays water around the room and is easy enough to clean) NEUTRAL* You may need to refill the water tank a few times on the floor while flossing. but it's easy to do and I'm glad they didn't just make the device even bigger than it already is in the course, but I don't like the logistics of refilling an empty tank while in the shower (except when I'm using it) . The battery won't last a single floss, so halfway through I have to switch back to manual flossing. I found that while my mouth seemed cleaner with waterflossing most of the time (compared to regular flossing), there were **there** a few pockets where regular flossing would make my gums bleed again (a sign that that the cotton thread has not penetrated there well enough). As such, I would encourage you to continue flossing from time to time to reap these benefits. Downgraded to just 3 stars out of 5 because there is no excuse for a battery to not hold a charge after only 3 months; Otherwise I would probably give 4 stars. **************** UPDATE 2: After another 3 months of flossing 1/2 mouth with water (until the battery dies) and then switching to flossing I finally got to the support call. I wish I had done this sooner! After 15 minutes, a new device was transported to me. I had to read them my serial number to confirm the purchase and I sent the old one back (so they could test and see how/why/where it failed). But now I've had a new one for 6 months and the battery is still as good as ever. I still thread the thread 1-3 times a month so I know when I'm missing something with the thread again. But the irrigator does a really great job of making my teeth feel amazing when I use it.
