I have been looking for a wall scanner that can be used to locate studs under a vinyl ceiling requiring a depth of detection of just over 1.5 inches. I chose the Tavool TH250 because, according to Revain's description of this scanner, "the depth mode detects wood and metal parts up to 1.77", while the maximum detection depth for all other Revain scanners listed is 1.5 inches. After ordering and receiving the TH250, I was very disappointed to read in the manual that the maximum detection depth in deep mode is actually 1.5 inches. The scanner seems to work well and is easy to use, but it can't see the studs behind my vinyl soffit.
