It's not the worst stud finder I've ever used but far from a 5 star product. Standard drywall was deflected 1/2 inch. That's a lot compared to the standard 1.5 inch thickness for a 2x4. I would not recommend this product.

It was a great price with a 9 volt battery included and easy to use. Before each use, be sure to read the simple instructions that come with it, especially regarding calibration. I only wish I had ordered this sooner rather than using the trial method of using a small nail to find cleats on a recent project that led me to purchase this cleat finder.

I am a few years over 60 and not a carpenter. But I do my own little chores like hanging pictures and nailing/screwing things to the walls. I found the Tavool Spike Finder and Tavool Laser Level to be great for these tasks. They were easy to figure out and helped me find the pins I needed and evenly hang the pictures. I am satisfied with their products.

Is that a pin in that wall? Or just soundproofing? If you use this tool, you won't be able to tell the difference. I followed the instructions and calibrated it several times with no improvement. It worked a bit on a few interior walls, but if there's insulation or wiring/piping within 3 feet of the wall, this tool has no idea what's going on.

So far, so good! The stump finder works better than the most popular brand we've recently had to throw away. And this thing never worked! This works amazingly right out of the box and my husband loves it. And it was so cheap too. I had never heard of this brand before so I was a bit hesitant but after seeing the good reviews I was like what the heck. And I'm glad I did. My husband's birthday gift works like a charm and he loves it.
