We've tried the spiral bowls to help slow feeding time down (belly aches & throw up) and within days my too smart Australian Sheppard had it figured out and would scarf food down again - she would just knock the bowl over & spill it but the mat doesn't flip like that. This mat is fun for her, she eats slower, enjoys snuffling out her food and it helps burn some energy & engage her at the same time. We've been using it 2x/day for feeding for just over a month now and it's held up really well, has lots of spots to hide food & treats in and folds up easily when eating time is done. Wish I would have had these for all my dogs over the years as it really is great, which is saying a lot because like I said, my Aussie is crazy smart & finding things she cannot outsmart within a short time is a task all on its own and she has yet to outsmart this mat.
