You can put the rear end forward on a rear wheel drive M35 and probably other models as well.

I know that for the back. However, to save money I put mine on the front of my '06 Infiniti M35 and it fits perfectly and has run for months with no problems. I just removed the back cover from the old one and put it on the back of the new one and voila. You look the same. They look and fit just like the OEMs at a fraction of the price.
