Review on Bracketron Cradle-iT Dash Mount: Secure and Convenient Smartphone Mount for Your Car by Sanny Hoffman

The best suction cup on the market.

After trying and owning quite a few different mounts over the years, I've come to the conclusion that the most useless ones are just plain normal. But when I bought a new car and realized the ones I had wouldn't work in the new car, I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of finding new ones that would work. I first tried the new dash glass to fit the old brackets but found that they were all useless in the new car as there were only curved surfaces everywhere and the glue on the glass would not stick anywhere. I even tried replacing the sticky stuff with others and it still didn't help. Then I bought the Bracketron model locally (only model available) and tried it on the iPhone. As long as the base held up well enough, the phone kept falling. So I searched the internet for other Bracketron models and bought this one for the iPhone. Despite the fact that the phone is a bit tight in the case, the base never lost its grip throughout the fight. No base pad required, just find and lock the lever, it works on slightly textured and slightly curved surfaces and hasn't let go in over 5 months since I've used it. I was about to return the first one when I noticed that the base sphere looked about the same as my Garmin GPS, the old Garmin mount fit the base perfectly and it hasn't moved or loosened since I installed it either. CONCLUSION: Bracketron's sticky soft suction cups are hands down and invariably the best. The actual device holders may need some improvement, so be careful with this part. I don't see the Fender-like thing I first bought that had a lot of useful things, no clips, just a half-dollar patch of glue and two tabs at the bottom. This one for my iPhone holds up, but if you have anything other than a very thin case, that's a problem. They make a universal kit, I didn't buy it as I had already worked with my Garmin top mount so I can't comment on how it works. But they are all the same ball size and if you have such a device, just pick a cheaper model, use the base and throw away everything else! worked for me
