Review on Dorman 919 871 Fuel Line by Kevin Mariappan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is definitely NOT a two hour job as mentioned in the video.

The ready-made kit helped me, among other things, to change the lines from the engine to the tank. 98-99% of the components that should be there were stock (a few nuts/washers were missing, nothing interfered with installation). The whole set needs to be installed. The tricky part is the nut on the gearbox, which is almost impossible to see, let alone attach an outlet. It's almost impossible not to bend and twist the pipes going to the motor unless you remove them from the mounts. I would recommend doing this area FIRST, this is the hardest part, and then going back to the tank. Be careful with the vapor line and return line disconnect points on the tank, lubricate them before attempting to remove them (they are most likely rusted and will require massage and practice before attempting to disconnect). Tighten this area, it may be necessary to replace both lines to the tank (not cheap and you will need to buy a special tool to compress the new fitting). The job took me a few days with deliberate breaks to keep from rushing to work and messing up other things. But overall the kit fits without too much length and no leaks. Would I buy again? Yes, but with more education/ Experience what I do Considering those stainless steel lines (better than OEM) I don't expect to do this job on this car again.

Pros
  • Complete set - includes brackets and fittings for overhaul
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
