I bought a Gosky 12x50 kit with tripod and phone adapter. I didn't use a tripod or adapter for this test, just the phone to the eyepiece. I saw another reviewer claiming that these Gosky 12x50s weren't actually real 12x's. Based on my simple testing, I agree that the reputable 10x Celestron monocular actually magnifies slightly more than the 12x Gosky. I use the same full zoom (4x digital) on my phone for both enlarged photos. In fact, the same, if not slightly larger, magnification is visible in the Celestron image in both enlarged photos. The wider 50mm lens naturally matches the Gosky well and is sharper. Images I believe are related to the light I let through the Celestron's eyepiece while holding the phone in my hand. The Gosky's focus knob is easier to control while keeping the scope stable, while the Celestron's is stiffer when viewing and more difficult to adjust with your finger. Also, for the released 12x I get almost twice the size of the Gosky monocular, it's just not worth it without the improved magnification. Make your own decisions, my tests may be simple but I think the photos tell the story. Given the cost of the kit, if you're expecting a 10x magazine and don't mind the size of the unit overall, the Gosky is probably a good choice. covers. No matter what, I will return it.
